ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Since 1997, Bev Aisbett's 'WORKING WITH IT' has assisted sufferers of anxiety to obtain the skills, techniques and learning required to open the way to recovery from this crippling condition.
The 'WORKING WITH IT' workshop was structured over 5 weekly 2.5 hours sessions, however, it is now structured in a double weekend workshop format.
This format provides participants with a gently paced series of steps, each building greater confidence, control, understanding and a sense of safety.
Home based exercises between sessions are also a key part of the
workshop format. These are designed to allow participants to apply
material learned to everyday life, further ensuring individual
management of anxiety outside of the workshop environment, building
confidence and enhancing the participants' ability to steer their
own recovery.

ABOUT BEV AISBETT
In transforming her own episode of extreme anxiety into a positive and life enhancing experience, Bev has undertaken intensive personal research and formal training in psychology, philosophy and the wisdom of both ancient and modern cultures.
An experienced teacher and counsellor, Bev's style incorporates the 3C's - Courage, Clarity and Caring. She brings to her sessions a frankness, friendliness and warmth that encourages others to rely on their own potential for growth and change.
Her own recovery and well being serve as testimony to the effectiveness of the wisdom she passes on to others.

I first heard of this program when I heard Bev on the radio, listing a number of symptoms of anxiety disorders. She struck a chord in me through the familiarity we both had with those symptoms, which she claimed to have worked through and which I was terrified of.
The five-week Recovery Program I subsequently attended was daunting in a number of ways. Only two other men attended the workshops with a dozen or more women, and I was so old! We had to do homework, or, should I say, we chose to do as much extra-curricular work as we wanted to? And being a smallish group, we all felt in a way exposed, thinking what we each had was only ours to suffer.
Bev's approach is both professional and personal (and has the credibility of experience). Participants couldn't hang back, and still expect to get real worth out of the program. I attended Bev's workshop with much nervousness and apprehension; I had never done anything quite like this before, but I was determined to examine all possible avenues that could assist me in dealing with my anxiety. Upon undertaking the course my apprehension was immediately diminished, realising that I was not alone and that I was not "weird".After the first week, I was eager to see what the focus of upcoming sessions would be, such was the positiveness of the initial meeting. I am not suggesting that I left the first meeting feeling like a new and recovered person, rather I had been introduced to the real life of experience of working through a process and the rewards that can be attained by remaining true to the process. Up until this point, I had heard the theory of working through the process, yet it had never resonated with me. Bev's personal experiences with anxiety made the thought of recovery, a real and attainable goal.In the subsequent weeks of the course I found the sessions to be varied, challenging, supportive, confronting, emotional, informative, inspiring and above all, meaningful. I left the course with a new armoury of strategies and understanding that I still work with every day. I still have a long way to go to realise my dreams and goals with respect to managing anxiety and I can now see the path and have the renewed motivation to succeed.
